Cheap 12"

I'm looking for a cheap 12" laptop - spec's aren't really a concern. Processor and ram wise, even Celeron M and 1Gb ram is sufficient, even 512mb would do as a base. Would prefer to avoid Sempron, anything else is fine. Hard Drive space not important.

PC World used to have one for 450, 12" Advent Celeron M w/1Gb ram - the only version they have now is the Dual Core 2Gb version which is 680.

Anyone any suggestions where I might pick up a cheap 12"? Or 14" also considered, but it couldn't be any bigger....sold my Vostro 1500 today, bought it at the time for games somewhat at the expense of portability and never really used it for games.

    Thanks

€570 (don't know what delivery is) for this (http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Acer_Aspire_2920Z_Laptop_LX.ANM0X.044/version.asp) from laptops direct. It seems to be the lowest spec 12" they have.

Yeah saw that one, but it's a clunky and ugly looking mofo! Pretty peeved that they don't have those cheap Advents anymore....

Just looking at the Vostro 1310. Can get a 13.3" Celeron M 1.8Ghz with 2Gb ram for 470 inc vat - not bad at all. 550 inc. 8400GS...

Might give that a whirl....are there delays on those, anyone know?

Ah I prefer to generally keep away from 2nd hand laptops to be honest....

I would go with the 13" Vostro, looks to be a nice compact machine, and good spec for the price. Theres some pics of the new Dell 9" going around at the moment, but if you were after a 12" originally, then a 9" is probably going to be quite a bit too small?

Have you tried Dunnes?. Recently they had a futjutsu siemens for I think it was 350. Can't recall the specs

That was probably a 15.4" laptop. He's looking for something a little smaller than that.

Yeah thanks lads. I think I'll settle for the 13.3 Vostro. Made the mistake last time of trying to balance between work and games, and ended up doing little of either.

9" is definitely too small - I still have nightmares of trying to browse wikipedia on my eee-pc :D

I got the vostro 1310 2 week sago (it came 3 days after ordering). Really loving it tbh for the price. Runs like a dream.

I actually went with a 12" after all....don't plan playing any games at all apart from Dawn of War which runs great on the Intel onboard. :)
