Was down at the Ruby Sessions last night and got some half decent pics.

I was mucking about with Gimp today and i like the look of the de-saturated washed out pics but the originals are still nice.

I'll throw it out there and see which is better - the original colourful version, or the washed out version:

Personally, I like the colour ones better as they are. The washed out ones might be better if they had a tighter crop though.

I like the choice you gave people.....
I would prefer somewhere in the middle. :pac:

you could be more constructive, FX.......

I think I would agree with Ginger, in saying that I'd prefer the unedited ones! Just curious 'bout the composition of the images.. were you trying to cut something out of the images? Think you should have a play with cropping and then compare!

Sometimes his kind of feedback is the best...
OP, in this case, the full colour are the better shots, in my opinion.

Personally, I'd be more worried about the composition. I'm sure you could have framed, or cropped, them better than that?
A viewer is going to be more interested in a woman's guitar, dress, figure, appearance than the curtain behind her? (Same for a man, of course).

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I think you kinda had to be there - both Jenn and Paul's songs were very laid-back, world weary, understated kind of songs and i wanted to bring something of that out in the pictures by down playing the brightness and colourfulness of the originals.

For me the full colour pictures are cool, and i think they're alright, but the washed out ones give a more realistic feel to the mood on the night.........

    Does that make sense?

As for the composition, i was trying something a bit different from the norm (and the fact that it was really difficult to get full length or even 3/4 length shots of the singers due to people's heads being in the way didn't help either - example here)

Ah, well, back to the drawing board.....

Can you split the difference and tone down the colour a bit, but not going all the way to the washed out pics

Closer crop on the singers and B&W conversion imho....

    She was pretty amazing.

I think i'll have a muck around with the pics when i get home (tomorrow) and see if they look better
