Does anyone know where I might buy this camera, which has been discontinued apparently? One of the reasons I want this particularly is for the manual focus, among other things - I can't understand how cameras which are so-called upgrades from this don't offer manual focus...
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd query the usefulness of manual focus on a P&S digicam. I had a P&S at one point which had manual focus, EVF. Centre of the image on the LCD zoomed to aid focusing etc etc. My view is that it was more a gimmick than anything else, it was next to impossible to actually focus the camera using it unless it was stopped down to about F8 or so. I guess it'd be OK for focusing the camera on the hyperfocal distance for the lens, setting it to F16 and just shooting it that way to avoid lag. Can't really think of any other justification for it.

I have said camera, and I find the MF very easy to use and also very useful. It's particularly good when doing macro photography...

Thanks for the input though, Daire, and many thanks, helios, I believe it's a great camera, but where to get it, that's the question! :(

Yeah, they seem pretty scarce. What happened to the one you had before? Normally I would consider selling my own, but I use it for infrared photos now and then, and I have a lot of accessories that I would have to sell with it. I wouldn't part with the camera on its own...

Oh, helios, I still have my little Nikon Coolpix 5600, but I want a camera with more manual controls, and the 710 IS just caught my fancy and I read up about it; I really want to buy a new one, thanks for the thought, though :) and the fact that you wouldn't part with yours ever proves how good it is! I'll find one eventually, please God.
