Anyway to start off i'll ask a few standard questions

    2. Where are you playing?
    3. How many hands do you play a month? (tables, hours)?
    4. Do you feel the game has changed alot in the past few years? (NLHE)
    5. How have you adapted your game?
    6. What advice would you give up a SSNL player in order to move up?
    7. Have you ever got coaching?

    1) I seem to recall that you play lots of tables? What is your attitude to this in regard to moving up? Do you think this might be + or -EV long run?

    2) What leaks do you feel you have to plug in order to improve?

gl in the well nick, this should be an interesting one.

where have you been since you started travelling, and which did you enjoy the most/would you recommend? and crazy stories?

are you just taking a few years out from college/work or are you playing full time?

how in the name of god do you play 16 tables? do you feel you make a lot of small mistakes having so little time to think?

why dont you post strat? do you post strat anywhere else? do you read much?

do you have ambitions to keep moving up and crush 5/10+ or are you happy enough making decent and relatively stress free money at mid stakes?

do you withdraw from your online bankroll a lot to travel?

Same rules apply with no flaming, abuse etc... (sure wont be a problem)

Anyway to start off i'll ask a few standard questions

    1. What levels are you currently playing?

you'll find me anywhere from 200 to 1k online and 1k to 2k live

    2. Where are you playing?

i'm in the process of moving my roll off carlos and back to gjp where ian and mike have set me up with a pretty nice deal, couple that with their support and i can imagine i'll be staying there for a while when i finally make the deposit..
    3. How many hands do you play a month? (tables, hours)?

it severely depends on what ta feck i'm up to in a given month, some months i'll grind 200k, this month i've been feckin' around a lot with other stuff and have only gotten in ~50k..
    4. Do you feel the game has changed alot in the past few years? (NLHE)

    undoubtadly yes, insanely..
    5. How have you adapted your game?

the idea of table selecting was never an issue for me until i came back from the u.s last september, so i've began to bring that into my game somewhat using eyepoker, although when i'm playing a 1/2 sesh it's just a case of getting the quickest 16games up i can get going..
also started learning plo and playing a lot more hu..
    6. What advice would you give up a SSNL player in order to move up?

have your first investment in your poker career be a high-res monitor, anything around 1600x1200 should do to begin with, learn how to multitable as quickly as possible at a couple of levels below what you currently play and get in as many hands as possible, all the while posting any difficult spots in forums and continuously trying to become involved in a lot of the poker discussion on the forums..
previous to this you should have read all those ssnl articles on 2+2 and have a grasp on the fundamentals..
possibly the only thing seperating a ssnl player from becoming the next aba is a few hundred k hands..
    7. Have you ever got coaching?

    no

Thats about it for now. Thanks for doing this again.[/QUOTE]

What are the best strategy articles you've read??

i use to have them all saved before my harddrive got wiped last month so none are coming to mind atm, if i can find them again, i'll link it..
    Whats your Poker history?

    watched rounders
    bought supersystem 2 (lol)
bonuswhored taking advantage of all the free no deposit bonuses, quickly losing them and moving onto the next..
signed a ****load of people up to party and again quickly lost the referral bonuses..
realining that there was obv something i was missing i took a break, read a ton of poker books, read all the strat on 2+2 and began working on the last of my no-deposit bonuses which was at the god awful pitbull for a free $10..
quickly moved up from .5/.10 to 2/4 and then blew all but $200 of my 10k roll in a tilt induced frenzy at one session..
    took a break..
learned how to multitable, quickly rebuilt my roll grinding .5/.10c at stars to where i'm at now..

i use to race up through the limits, always taking shots with 10buyins.. these days, because poker's my only forseeable source of income for a while (which i love!), i'm a lot nittier with my bankroll..

How much did you have to pay RS to get him to change his avatar?

the forum sure does look prettier now..

i've touched on this before but i think it's a lot more important at the lower limits to simply get the hands in.. get out there and get yourself stuck into as many awful and marginal spots as possible and have something to discuss on the forums..

when moving up, remove a few tables from your multitabling normal and then reintroduce them when comfortable..

    2) What leaks do you feel you have to plug in order to improve?

my biggest leak is that i've lost that aggressiveness i had when i managed my bankroll a year ago.. i need to push myself constantly to play higher stakes but it rarely works.. multitabling 1/2 and 2/4 has become ridiculously easy and stress free that i'm having trouble convincing myself that there's more to go after.. this will change soon though hopefully..

gl in the well nick, this should be an interesting one.

where have you been since you started travelling, and which did you enjoy the most/would you recommend? and crazy stories?

this year's travelling began in jan with a snowboarding trip to italy, then onto bangkok to travel thailand and laos..
i done like 15dives throughout thailand all of which were amazing.. trekking and rafting through the chiang mai jungles with a local tribe for a few days was also pretty awesome..
california for the summer then vancouver..
are you just taking a few years out from college/work or are you playing full time?

at the moment it's full time, i've done 2yrs beng civil eng and am contemplating going back..
how in the name of god do you play 16 tables? do you feel you make a lot of small mistakes having so little time to think?

i have plenty time to think, it's rare that a situation would arrise that i'm stuck for time..
like 90% of the decisions in poker are ridiculously standard and require no thinking whatsoever after a while.. so while i'm thinking about difficult decisions on 3 or 4 tables i'm clicking through all of the standard decisions.. all the while browsing 2+2 and here and deciding what tune i'm gonna listen to next :)
why dont you post strat? do you post strat anywhere else? do you read much?

a lot of the strat that is cropping up has been covered before, i'm way too lazy to go over stuff twice :) i'll try to post more i guess..
do you have ambitions to keep moving up and crush 5/10+ or are you happy enough making decent and relatively stress free money at mid stakes?

i wanna keep moving up and pushing myself to beat the next limit.. i'm gonna write a huge note above my workspace and say on it.. "why the **** arn't you playing 5/10+ you absolute nit!?"
do you withdraw from your online bankroll a lot to travel?

yeah, my bro has access to all my a/cs back home and helps me out with it which is great..

no way, i'd have it no other way.. i refuse to bring up poker in discussions with friends back home unless asked indepth about it.. they all know i play and make a good living from it but have no idea the amounts i "GAMBLE" with everyday which is perfectly fine..
    3. What's the biggest thing you have learned (via a mistake) whilst playing online?

after being out for a night and polishing off a bottle of whiskey on the way home with a certain friend, it's -ev to throw a laptop across a room after losing an allin pf in a deep 5/10 game with 42o against pocket aces..

    become penpals?..

even with the added bonus of getting a walkover i still cannot find anything nice to say about you.. weird huh? :)

every one of my online nicks were taken so a nick in brackets became my last resort..

    Hi nicK

Good to see you in the well as I have played a small amount with you at 200nl As I have quoted u above ,

I seem to be stuck in a slightly similar situation to
you i played a way more agressive moving up. Now ive settled into 200nl ive regressed back into a nittier 16/12 type style playing 8-12 tables. I am making some real good money with rakeback included.eg 11k in apr and 6K so far this month played way less hands. I also have a full time job.

I feel this is detremental to my game and has so far prevented me from
moving to 400nl as i am way overolled although you cant argue with easy money autopiloting like that.

I would like to ask you main differences between 200nl and 400nl on ipoker at the moment?

The main adjustments that need to made when moving from 200nl to 400nl?

Any other advice in general regarding the small to midstakes levels on ipoker?

    thx

    Hey Nick,

Very interested in the whole travelling you did - if you could spend a little more time in any of these places, where would it be?

How hard was it too get playing poker whilst in asia etc (getn a good internet connection etc)

Would you recommend someone doing this instead of sitting in ireland playing poker?

You said that a friend of yours who plays low-med stakes online is able to beat the larger live games in the Commerce - i find this very hard to believe, expand please?
Is it that easy, that he just nits it and always gets paid? or what is it?

Have you visited San Diego yet? there are a few casinos 40 odd minutes away from the beach area, if you went for a week or so - def rec it.

Who are you travelling with at the moment?

Which brings me to my next question, who owned the bra in the fotos that you posted of your bangkok apartment? tell the truth now . . .

You say that 90% of the hands you play, you know the automatic decision of what to do, this is what most players strive to get, esp if multitabling - it would be good if you could post more in strat section, not only posting your own hands, but answer these 90% questions being asked (1 word answers suffice, ask valor!)

Also kudos on the multi tasking, reading the net, picking music and 12+ tabling - fair play!

    1. When you play poker how long at a time do you play for hours back to back or mini sessions throughtout the day.

    2. When multitableing 16 tables or there abouts do you miss the thrill of seening if your all-ins hold up or not.

I would like to ask you main differences between 200nl and 400nl on ipoker at the moment?

well the obvious difference is it's a lot harder to win a ****ing hand..
that breaks down as more floating, more 3 and 4 betting and they're generally more aggressive postflop and better hand readers..

however, just like you find the regs at 200nl exploitable, you'll come to find holes in a lot of the 400nl players games.. and while your figuring all that out, there are still some fish swimming about to keep it profitable..
The main adjustments that need to made when moving from 200nl to 400nl?

i've explained some differences between the 2 games above although, people like townsend talk about the gap between 200nl and 400nl being huge, i really don't find the 2 games being that different..

i found that the jump between 100nl and 200nl was the toughest i made (i really struggled with counteracting light 3betters and figuring out my own 3bet range when i origionally moved to 200nl) .. imo, the games between 200nl and 600nl all play relatively similar with only some slight adjustments needed between each level.. (the leap to 5/10 is a completely different ball game..)

it seems your rolled for 400 so i would say to take 5buyins and just go ahead and take a shot.. it won't take long to rebuild at 200 if it doesn't go straight forward for you- play the same style that you beat 200nl with and slowly you will begin to see what and who you need to adjust to..

bah, it's kinda hard for me to explain what exact adjustments need to be made as each individual decision is based off past history and game flow etc, but don't be intimadated and get yourself stuck into the higher games and if/when you feel outta depth there are plenty players around here and 2+2 that could take a look at the hands and your game in general if needed..

Any other advice in general regarding the small to midstakes levels on ipoker?

note-taking.. i rarely have time (lazy!) to review all my hands as there's just way too many each week but i do make it a priority to take notes on every single play that's worth noting, from position to street play to showdown and even bet sizing.. when multitabling it's important to keep updating your notes regularly otherwise your just asking to get run over, and you will.. - there's tons of free info being given away every hand, use it!
    thx

    np
