    From RTE.ie

    New Terminator film starts production
Shooting has begun on 'Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins', the latest instalment in the multi-billion dollar 'Terminator' series.

The new film will star Sam Worthington and Christian Bale and began principal photography in Albuquerque, New Mexico earlier this month.

Set in 2018, it tells the story of John Connor (Bale), the man destined to lead the human resistance against Skynet and the Terminators.

Things are disrupted by the appearance of Marcus (Sam Worthington), who could come from either the past or the future and whose last memory is of having been on death row.

Apparently, the pair will "embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind".

'Terminator Salvation' is to be directed by McG and is the planned first instalment in a new 'Terminator' trilogy.

It is scheduled for release in late May, 2009.

From the people that brought you the OC :pac:

Unfortunately this means it will be sh*t....

Actually... why is it called Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

Could they not settle on a single title? And do the terminators really need salvation?

Jokin aside, if the series is re-hashed like Batman was it should be a goodie, the presence of Bale gives me hope...

I wonder what the odds are of Arnie making a cameo, tbh it would be gas to see him make a tiny appearence...

The trip into the Skynet base seems a bit Matrix Revolutions though....

bah...The Sarah Chronicles had the right idea
    retconning terminator 3's ending
a terminator film completely set in the future is a crap idea imo.

aintitcool.com also suggested that it would be a PG13 movie, ala Die Hard 4. Methinks the cash-cow is mooing & we're just gonna get a seriously poor 4th movie.

I heard that bale is just a cameo in it, probably no more than 30 minutes total screentime. Arnie has publicly said he'd love to do a couple of days on it, wether they take him up on that (or can afford him) is up in the air.

The mission inside skynet is part of the Terminator: 4D storyline on the ride in Universal Studios.

All in all, will see it, but not expecting a whole lot.

I can see a lot of these episodic films being shot as a PG 13 & also shooting a higher age dvd version for fans of the original (personally I think it should be at least 15. The US version of Die Hard 4 came with both versions & the 18 cert one is a totally different & far more enjoyable film.

Heard that too - the plan is for a small part in this one, with the bigger parts in 2 and 3 (5 and 6?)
