    Cough - Shill - Cough.

If you really want to know I presume the username: gradireland who has one post and signed up this month will be along in a while to give you a detailed description as to the event and the benefit you will get from attending.

    Shameless stuff.

Are you a comrade of Irish_Sailor and gradireland by any chance? Stick to handing out your books at uni careers fairs instead of these kinds of underhand publicity tactics.

The fact that he made such an effort to distance himself from gradireland.com, i.e. his name is "Kevin St Guy" and he is a student in "DIT Kevin Steet", as well as this being his only ever post, makes me think he is a gradireland.com employee.

How do these people have jobs?
If I was asked to do a bit of shilling you can bet it would work or at least be well under the radar.

You just do your employer more damage when you get it so wrong.

Im not sure on that one, and no I have no vested interest in gradireland but is first post so who knows....

Sorry to ruin the conspiracy theory, but no, we don’t know who Kevin Street guy is.

We signed up to input info that might be useful to grads looking for jobs or help answer some of the questions, but we will certainly be leaving the opinions on events/jobs etc up to you guys! If we have info to give we may as well be straight about it and have it come from gradireland.

oh and to answer his question -

Bring a CV and wear something smart - you could be meeting your future employer. Also register before hand to skip any queues on gradireland.com/summerfair and do a bit of research on companies you are interested in before you come so you arent asking questions like 'what do you do?' ...trust me it happens all the time and companies are not impressed!

Why cant this be held at the weekends rather than a Tuesday. I am a graduand and would be interested in attending but i am working so won't be able to make it.:o Oh well, guess i'll apply to the companies directly for the recruitment next year.

I'll be heading to this anyway, the merrill lynch stand guy is hilarious. gradireland I don't think bringing a CV is necessary. Last year they all just said "Use our online application form".

Cos all grads are jobless bums? Seriously, these graduation fairs are usually a load of bo||ox. The one in Croke Park is good... cos it's at the weekend, when you can actually goto it...

Is this worth going to? Has anyone gone before? Just the trek up the Dublin and do the employers take note of you or is it just for people who can just visit their website and find out how to apply for a grad position??

I have applied for the big four already via their website.

There's a few advantages of going along in person. Firstly you have a chance to talk to a real person about the company and ask any questions you maybe wouldn't ask in an interview (it's pretty informal at these events). Also you will see a few companies you might not have heard of/thought about and get a better idea of what they're about. You have the opportunity to make an impression which might get you further than your CV alone.

Most importantly is that you get to swipe a load of free stuff from all the stands... :D
