My Forester got a fairly hard smack last Saturday morning - a young driver came through a stop sign and into the left side of the car. In my opinion, it may be borderline whether to write off or repair the car. I don't want the car back. What are my options if the assessor wants to repair?

Dunno really, maybe if a repair estimate is agreed then the insurance co. will pay you that amount and you can walk away.

Factor in the cost of scrapping it as well.

I would have thought that too. I'm not sure though...
