Mutant muck

    Hi all

I was driving beside a bus yesterday and it seemed to drive into a puddle and splash some dirt on the side of my car. It was raining on the way home so I thought that that would wash the heaviest of it off. When I got home I noticed the side of the car was still covered so I went out with my trusty bucket and sponge thinking this was a 5 minute job. Jaysus I dont know what sort of mutant dirt it was but it wouldnt shift. It looked like just like normal residue from a mucky splash but it had the consistency of tar. I had to get a slighly rougher cloth and spent the best part of an hour rubbing (almost scraping) it off inch by inch.

I've had this before with toxic bird crap that wouldnt shift, but not with this type of splash residue.

Is there special stuff that would remove this ground on muck for future reference without damaging the paintwork?

    Cheers

Yes a clay bar should do it, or pre soak the dirt with some apc (all purpose cleaner) and then try to wash off.

Cheers guys - I'll look out for a clay bar. I dont think there is any lasting damage to the paint work. I was as careful as I could and it does look okay now
