    Hi,

Can anybody recommend a good crash repair shop in Dundalk or the greater area? Need to get my car sorted asap and I want a really good job done on it.

    Cheers!

Oriel Bodywork down at the industrial estate opposite the Coes Road should take care of most asthetic problems.

I'd stay away from Oriel Bodywork, I've seen enough bad spray jobs and so called buffing work from them. There over priced and only do half a job. Recently seen a car from them that had the paint worked burnt down to the primer with however there buffed it and that was just one of many issues

I actually went into them today about a quote. He took all the details and said that he would get back to me today. I still have not heard from him!

Did you try Joe McArdle's on Linenhall Street ?

Sorry Heartofwhite, but I can't help, but I would just like to mention Eugene Murphy, now sadly retired, he was simply the BEST panel beater/painter to repair cars in the Dundalk area.
As I said this post won't help you (sorry) but it just reminded me how good Eugene was!

I tried Joe McArdles but he really did not seem interested. He was asking me what should be done to the car rather than the other way around. I got a quote from Oriel this morning and it was 790 euro! That was for a new back bumper, fitting and spraying. Does this not seem a bit excessive????

What make and year of car, and is the bumper the only work getting done ?

It is a Citreon xsara 99 model. I reversed into a low wall and the back left corner of the bumper is really badly dented. I have no problem getting a new bumper which is 150 euro on micks garage. I know that it has to be colour coded but come on 800 quid????

It won't cost them €150 for the bumper, if they even buy a new one, go somewhere else cause €800 is too much.

Buy a second hand bumper from Traynors or another decent scrap yard, should cost you €50 and then get someone to paint and fit it for you for about €200.

There are new bumpers on ebay for £25

Stay away from all the shops in the town,i am in the car sales and i got work done with all the crash repair shops in town, they dont care a less about your car,all they want is your money and once your out there door you have not got much come back. Now,if your doing an insurance claim your insurance company will send you to one of these shops, dont let them, they will try and bully you into it.Its your car,you can send it to where ever you want. The reason i am saying this is a mate of mine got caught out not so long ago,it was a disgrace the way his car was left,he took it back to get it redone and it was left worse, now with about 2 inchs of paint on rubbers and edges. It just does my head in how these shops get away with jobs like this after all your car is one of the most expensive things your going to own in your life time and you dont want butchers makeing little of your pride and joy.Hope this sheds a bit of light for you, from a very unhappy car dealer.
Not all are bad in the town.

Was it done in Oriel body repairs by any chance, if so I think I may of seen it and it's one bad job done to it (both times).

Seen another crash/insurance repair they did last week, put it this way the guy that sprayed it must be colour blind and not believe in masking things up right.

I don't think i'd go anywhere in Dundalk either, I live just outside and wouldn't trust any of them to do a good job to be honest

    Hi.

A man crashed in to my car on saturday so I would be interested in a good panel beater in dundalk or bit outside dundalk.
There is good few posts about who to avoid but nobody could recomend a good panel beater.

There's probably someone out there to slag him off but I reckon you won't get much better than Stanley Meehan in Haggardstown.
