been out for a while now - these are the lightweight runners that apparently dont last too long but by all accounts - across the water that is - seem to be very good..

Apart from them being yellow and looking silly - any of you guys tried them or have any views? Im a neutral runner and light on my feet so I might just start binning all these fancy pants runners im used to.

they have no support in them so I reckon it'll be hit or miss. €45 isnt the end of the world..

We've sold a few of them. There are some people who will race in very light shoes and thats what these are. I don't do fast enough times to justify racing flats (20mins for 5k) but we've had mixed reports on them.

As regards racing flats we get better reports on Brooks T5 and Saucony Type A2. It is a personal thing

got mine this week and tried them for the first time this eve around the track. Absolutely amazing - forgot what it was like to run really fast and I couldnt help myself to some sprints!! *Very* easy to do 12s 100m in them. I've never had spikes, or anything as light as this (in school I used to run barefoot around our grass track) - but this is exactly like running barefoot - except the grip is very very good!! I've always struggled for traction over the last few years and just never felt inclined to get spikes - so for anyone looking for a cheapo lightweight shoe, these are the ticket. I put on my asics 1120s straight after for comparison and it was like having dead weights - with no grip!

Some warning again - they have zero support. Absolutely none. If you are heavy on your feet avoid these. The top is made out of some pathetically light nylon stuff which is going to tear with use also. Nike claim 100km from them - some users claim 200km.. I'll be shocked if they get that.

Anyway - will try them for my usual 5km road session and see how they get on. But at the very least - I think 'racing flats' of some kind are for me..

Hi Damian, do you have many flats in stock at the minute? What do you mean by the brooks and saucony have better reports, are they more durable. I've seen a good few of the kids this yr wreak those nike mayfly on the track in greystones in no time at all. I'll be down to ya soon for a pair of flats anyway.

Because of the lack of support I would only recommend using flats for races. Save yourself in training - wear normal runners. I like the Asics ones, still have a good heel even though they are very light. I read somewhere that for every ounce that a runner is lighter, you gain 3.5seconds per mile. Obviously a generalisation, but the price of those valuable 3.5secs per mile is less support and therefore more injury.

racing flat - i agree - its just before i use these or anything else in races etc. i gotta try them out ya know? purely me being curious, anyway still got 00's of miles left in my 1120s!

Having said that - i would prefer a lighter trainer - not mayfly/adizero light - but just a bit lighter than the 1120s. Is DS the only option? Can you get Asics Speedstar 3s over here?? like the mayfly, they too look absolutely awful... maybe thatl make me run faster so no ones sees what im wearing?!!? sighhh

I don't know about the speedstar 3s. I don't even know which ones I have - the bright green ones from about 3 years ago? Are they DS?

One word of warning if you are getting the Asics ones, make sure you get the wet weather sole. The 'bright green' ones don't have that and they are terrible on a wet surface - like running in socks on tiles. So I'd to get another pair with the wet weather sole.

I must say, I love the feeling of lightness you get when you put on flats before a race after warming up in my asics 2130s. So I'm happy enough to just keep the flats for races. Remember 1 time, warming up, putting on racing flats and then getting them soaked tryin to get a short cut to the race start. So had to change back into the 2130s and they felt SO heavy. Wrecked my head for the wholel race...
