Obituary of the late Mr. Common Sense

    From The London Times:
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

Knowing when to come in out of the rain; why the early bird gets the worm; Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement..

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I'm A Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Nice perception on society in general today I thought! So the question that I pose is what is it that you seriously despise about our lives today.
My biggest hate would probably be the justice system (or rather lack of it) today, and of course the constant uproar that the do-gooders cause by moaning about every little pathetic issue !!

Yeah the Justice system is a huge issue alright, it's nothing short of a joke here.

Nice article though and there's a lot of truth to it.

Variations of that have been in circulation around the web for a long time. It is true what it says though.

Personally I feel people should have the sense to not be so self centred and shouldn't take themselves so seriously. :pac:

Damn selfish people, they never think about ME and what I think. Me, David, the one who they should devote their lives too. (if they're not fans of Christ I suppose)

we used to have a health service that didnt kill us most of the time as well so while justice that costs ya millions to get is a joke hospitals that arent clean come in a close second (i mean FFS HOW can you go in for one small thing and end up catching something you cant even spell IN the hospital that'll KILL you ? )

also simple cop on in regards to child play. the reason we dont have playgrounds in many areas now is thanks the fcuking idiots that sue councils when little johnny takes a header off a slide acting the maggot.

kids nowadays would probably listen is rapt awe of my tales of climbing trees, riding a skateboard without enough padding to survive a nuclear assault and jumping off high walls for dares.

and thats before you get to the various hazing rituals like root the boot etc we used to have. that'd probably have some kid rocking in a huddle like a romanian orphan now

Nobody went to the funeral, cause common sense never existed, therefore could not die, in my opinion. Some of the points above I agree with though.
