While in the US last week I treated myself to a new TM R7 Superquad driver. Played 1 round with it and really liked it. Packed the bag up in the newly aquired travel case (soft), made the 6k mile journey home, opened the case and feic it to hell and back, the driver shaft was snapped right up at the head. Had to put it away for the weekend as I couldn't even look at it, I was so dissappointed.

Anyway, at the moment I haven't time to bring it to a shop, so just wondering what my options are. I think I can reuse the same shaft as it snapped tight by the head, but may loose an inch or so. It was a regular, would this make it a bit stiffer??
Are TM shafts expensive to get replaced?

Sickened I am, just sickened :(

Sorry to hear about that. Im a bit surprised to hear that it shattered on you. Not sure of the best course of action but if I were you I could contact TM directly, explain the situation and they might replace it.

Yea, that sucks alot, but turn it round to your advantage. At least now you can go and get fitted for a shaft that will exactly suit you and the club so it will be even better than before!

Unfortunatly contacting TM personally will be no good, they will only let you return it through a shop which holds an account with them, and will only replace the shaft free of charge if it is broken during the normal course of play, as stated in a previous post getting fitted with an after production shaft is an option, but anything that will do the club justice will cost from €100 upwards. Not too sure if this is cool to say but I'm sure if its not i'll be chastised at a later stage, I'm a professional fitter and club builder with more than 15 years experience and see this problem all the time, If cost is a problem it is possible to fit a quality 2nd hand shaft that has been pulled out of a club that the original player does not wish to retain. If you want and if its cool by the regulations of boards.ie you can contact me and i'll do my best to help you.

Neckedit.......I have no problem with you offering as you are responding to somebody's problem. I don't think the mods will have any problem either.

    fairplay neckedit.

OP contact TM and see what they say, you might be able to bring it back to a TM retailer and get a replacement. Also get in touch with the air company and see what they say about this aswell.

Chance your arm in a golf shop and say it broke during the round.

I'm not too sure how to go about it, but I work out one of the big retailers, and I have no interest in trying to advertise who I work for. I respect the sanctity of Boards.ie and being new to this forum thing, could one of you guys let me know how I let the OP get in touch with me, so I can help em out, purely cause I see this kinda thing happen all the time and sometimes the supplier is not willing to help,(there are loopholes). If its cool let me know, if not I understand completly.

    folks,

Thanks very much for the replies. Much appreciated.

Pending a mod's 'ok' on the contacting by pm regarding above offers, I am very much interested in getting get this sorted as soon as possible.

Can someone tell me, is it worth getting the same shaft attached as it broke right by the clubhead and I may only lose an inch or so (not sure).

    Thanks again for the replies.

No you will need a new shaft.

You could chance your arm in a shop, but they will almost definately ask you to produce a receipt, if your trying to get it done free. Or they will charge you.

Contacting Taylor Made will do no good. They don't deal with the public as far as I know.

Reminds me of a story... (are we sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin...)

Few years back, two mates of mine were playing a round in Bodenstown in Kildare. They came across the nearly-new head of a Ping driver, minus the shaft. Both were relative beginners at the time and I wouldn't imagine either had a club or clubs in their bag that had cost any significant money.

So one of the lads - canny crafty lad that he is - put the driver head in his bag and when he got home posted it off to Ping with a sob-story letter attached.

Hey Presto, they only sent him back the club with a brand new shaft a couple of weeks later which he proceeded to use for manys a year later... In fact, I think it latwer got damaged in use and he sent it off again and again they sent it back almost as new.

    Jammy Git.

I use to work as a returns manager in one of the bigger golf stores and you wouldn't believe some of the clubs we got back in that "broke during normal play"

If it's broken at the hosel then they will take it as that is normally a weak point within certain shafts but if it say is in the middle of the club then good luck.
