Debate about "top gun" - need help!

    Ok friends, this one came out of nowhere this morning. One of the girls in the office decided to support her in a debate with her other female colleague that Top Gun is a great chick flick.

    I was left there going "ehhhhh, no its not"

    I told her that its film about repressed homosexuality but its not a chick flick!

    Am i wrong her? Is Top Gun one of the greatest chick flicks of the 80's??

    I like Top Gun but I dont like men in the Top Gun way. But this chick flick angle is disturbing me!!

    Opinions?

    Top Gun is a chick flick. It might contain repressed homosexuality but that just makes it more of a chick flick. Its now a chick flick that chicks can watch with their gay friend as he paints their toenails.

    This movie is so far up chick flick street, that its bought a flower shop, painted it pink, stocked it with posies and doilys and had its grand opening with Oprah cutting the red tape while being covered by E! News.

    Technically it's both a lad's flick and a chick flick:

    Men: Fast jets, rock music, high-octane action sequences.

    Chicks: Mushy love story, Take My Breath Away :pac:

    The love story was heavily built on so the movie could appeal to both genders. Damn fine marketing if you ask me.
