GBB mag maintenance

As some of you know (largely because I'm a loud whiner) I had a bit of trouble with my GBB mag recently; after filling, it would empty quickly with a high-pitched hiss, clearly a seal not holding. Most of the more experienced people here have disassembled/modded more GBB mags then I've had hot meals, but if you're a mag virgin, you might find this step-by-step photo guide as useful as I did:

As well as maintenance, it includes a couple of simple performance enhancement mods, and you could try combining these with some of the other hacks mentioned on this forum for seals and the like. Make sure to get silicone gel before you start though.

Just tried that fix for a leaking Meister glock, didn't work but at least I have the confidence now to strip the thing to sort it out. I need a new O ring for mine, which I should be able to pick up. Thanks again kevteljeur this is the kinda of stuff us fellas need:D:cool:

Must try that shimmy thing too!

Something else that's useful is a visit to the Great Outdoors Scuba shop, near Stephen's Green SC; it's very, very pricey but has exactly the sort of thing you need for air seals, O-rings, etc. I got silicone gel there too, although it's very expensive. Didn't have time to track down a decent non-Halfords motor store though.

funny you should say that, I work in a non Halfords motor shop!! but a good plumbers supply should be able to help as well.

And a decent motor accessory shop we are:)

Update on the leaking meister mag issue. I seemed to have fixed it, took out the innerds as above put in a tidy bead of instant gasket(silicone) pushed back in the base with a new O ring(which continued to leak on its own) hey presto!! 24 hours later and the Meisters back in the game!!!

Instant Gasket is available at all good Motor Accessory Stores, Woodies I think have it as well.

DOn't forget the dive shop in Cork for O-rings.

There are many dive outlets around the country who will be able to supply O-rings.

Failing that try MDE (Midland Diving Equipment) in the UK, they're a top class outfit.
