Digital Camera Problem

I have a Samsung v800 which has rarely been used in over a year (out of warranty a few months). Anyway I'm heading away on Sunday so I was checking the battery power and sd cards etc when the camera gave two loud beeps and shut itself down whilst leaving the lens open (ie protruding from the camera). I was playing around with the settings when this happened. After half an hour the camera worked fine again but the same two beeps happened again and it's malfunctioned since!

Any subsequent attempt to turn the camera back on results in it shutting itself down after 2 seconds! It's ridiculous, the lens make that noise that all digital lenses do but sounds like it's cutting out if that makes sense?

Any ideas, don't wanna have to fork out for another camera:mad:

    Just to point out:

    1) The battery is fully charged

    2) SD card works on other cameras

    3) LCD works fine

    4) During those 2 secs the menu items can't be changed nor will the scroll button change the shot type

    Any help is much appreciated!

Did you charge the battery recently or are you going on the fact that it was full when you used it last? Batteries tend to discharge over time... I don't know what the problem is but just wondering about that.

Ye I only charged the battery fully yesterday to use it as it was dead, was working fine for 20mins as I tried to play around with the settings to get better quality pictures:(
