    Hey there.

I am after coming across a relatively cheap second-hand Gordon Smith GS2.
You can see it on their website here, you just have to scroll down a little bit.

It seems like a really nice guitar, looks like it could be very versatile and full of character but i'm pretty much in the dark because i've never ever played on one before or let alone have much great experience with guitars.

I was wondering if you guys had any of your expert opinions, comments or feedback on it. It'd be really appreciated...:)

so...your expert opinions on GS guitars....GO!:)

i've never played one, but i've yet to hear a bad review. A friend in england has one and says it's phenomenal.

I will own one someday, i'd have no problems buying sight unseen from the reviews i've read.

Ok, I've a '94 GS1 (on the left) and a '92 GS2 (on the right). I've owned the GS1 from new and tbh found it a bit limited. The GS2 I picked up on ebay last year and it really makes up the difference. For such a thin and light guitar there are some really sweet tones out of it - but again beauty is in the ear...

Its difficult to recommend a guitar to someone without knowing what they like to play. Having said that at the right price I don't think you'd be disappointed with the GS2. It might never be your ultimate guitar but you can get some good mileage out of them.

Here's a Graduate GS60 on ebay that looks like a great bargin. I'd bid myself but alas - too many guitars...

Can't vouch for the GS2, but our other guitar player uses a Gordon Smith Les Paul with his original Marshall JMP1 half stack and the sound is exactly the same as my Gibson Les Paul Standard into my Marshall JVMc 2x12 100w.
I don't mean almost the same....it's a carbon copy of my tone.

    Hope that helps a bit....

I Have a Gordon Smith Graduate 60 - basically like a les paul and I have to say its pretty great. It's fairly old and faily battered as well. I don't use it much cos I always use Fenders live but I use it in the studio a bit. I have a gibson les paul and I use them equally as much in the studio. I think its a great guitar.

Its a Brian May signature guitar. Seemed like a good idea at the time but I seldom play it - find the neck a bit too chunky compared to the Eggles.

dazberry, your Smiths look great. They have a nice, simple elegance.

On a totally superficial note, I always find the GS website a little depressing. They really need to take some more flattering pictures of their guitars.

+1. I think they only make something like 7 guitars a week, and some are seldom made - telecasters for instance, so it would probably take a while to get a good range of photos up. But yeah they really need better pictures for ppl to GAS over :) Dealt with them a few times and they've always been great for followup information.

Same here! I have a GS gypsy2 and a Brian May signature ... keep going back to the GS! (BM is good as a strat replacement, soundwise, but has a massive neck!)

Daz if you ever want to parts ways with that GS1...;)

I've always loved these guitars on the rare occasion I've seen one in person
but I wouldn't buy from new
