Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

geo with ufh - stats in each room?

installing austrian IDM energie 12kw heat pump with 500ltr buffer tank servicing ufh to both floors and all dhw requirements.
Installer using just 2 zones - ground and upper floors with one stat on each floor (lounge and master bed).
he says stats in each room complicate the system and that the latest data suggests the efficiency of the pump is best running all the time. he said each room can be set from the manifold for its own temp.
Is he correct or just saving himself a lot of work? Should i have more zones (3 - ie: bathrooms, living areas and bedrooms?)
    All info greatly appreciated.
Insulation: cavity walls - 60mm xtratherm, ground floor 80mm xtratherm, 1st floor 50mm xtratherm, roof 300mm rockwool and sloping ceilings 100mm hyloc + 50mm xt - is this enough for a 3000 sq. ft house?

I hope your installer is wrong otherwise I'm in big trouble! Just had UFH installed - a minimum of 1 thermostat/zone per room. Some of the larger south-facing rooms wth high solar gain have 2 thermostats/zones

    doctors differ patients die

i would always look to install a stat per room . infrequently used rooms can be set lower ( but remember if 10 unexpected visitors arrive - ufh is slow to respond . but perhaps body temps would compensate ;) nudge nidge wink wink )

tiled areas will feel warmer to touch then timber or carpet . you will appreciate being able to regulate this if nothing else

We always supply stats in each room.

As sinnerboy said.. different room, different temp, more efficent.
