    Hi all,
Just moved into a new house and there was a satellite dish on the side of the house when we moved in. The cable goes into the attic and someone has cut it up there. Now I have 2 rooms I want to have satellite in, both have the usual UHF coaxial tv wall sockets. What I want to know is can I change those wall sockets to the f-type satellite wall sockets with the existingly run coaxial cable and then hook up to the satellite dish..both are also running to the attic and have no ends on but are long enough to wire directly to the satellite dish with a a dual LNB.

Any help would be welcome. The house is a dormer so running a new line of satellite cable is gonna be a real pain!

depends on the quality of the cable in the walls. I fit is Ct100 preferable, or RG6 minimal yes you can. If ropey old unscreened ,probably brown , coax don't.
Don't bother changing the plates, strip the backs off of them, pass the cable through and extend with a f joiner. Far better connection.

Thanks for the advise. Just had a look at the cable behind the sockets, its black and house is only 5 years old so it might be ok, will have a closer look when its daylight again!. Great idea with the plates.
