I'd just like to point out that if this is the Smart Telecom Trial IP box that you're subject to a non disclosure agreement and shouldn't discuss this anywhere other than the private group on their discussion boards.

If, however you're a paying customer and have signed up for IPTV with them - talk away.

Well Smart have already announced the channel line-up and pricing over on the public Smart forum, to pretty much scathing criticism.

Personally I can't see what anyone would sign up for the Smart Vision IPTV service. It is more expensive and offers far less then UPC and Sky.

The IPTV service costs €32 per month and it doesn't include many channels that most people would expect like any Discovery channel, SciFi, many kids and music channels, etc.

It only includes about 80 channels.

For €32 UPC would give you 120 channels (plus 17 analogue channels) and for €28 Sky will give you hundreds of channels. Both with far better picture quality and likely far more reliable. Also Smart have no DVR serivce like Sky+ and no HD.

I can't understand why anyone would sign up for it.

BTW I'm an existing SmartVision customer on their old system (fibre to the home) and the service is dreadful. Bad channel line-up, heavy pixelation, sound sync problems, slow and bad EPG. I know this is supposed to be a new service but if they can't get it right on Fibre, who thinks they are going to get it right on ADSL?

deecom, without breaking any NDA, can you tell me, what attracted you to signing up for this service and can you not get UPC or Sky?

I assume they can dump the existing system on fiber and move it over to the new platform instead.

Yes, that is what they are going to do (of course they won't actually change the fiber setup, just the modems and STB's).

They have been promising us this for almost a year now, sigh I'd love to be back with UPC!!!

Are those prices still on the Smart Forums? Had a quick look and didn't see them mentioned.

I wish I could tell them the same, unfortunately I'm stuck with them.

Might chance my arm and stick up a sat dish even though where not supposed to (Apartment), must look into hidden dishes like squish.

Any official site or Irish installers? That sounds quite good and I'm bored of giving UPC my money.

http://www.sqish.co.uk here, don't know if any Irish installers do it or if it would even be suitable for Ireland, but it looks really interesting.

I'm on the above trial - no one has mentioned any disclosure agreements to me.

So how do you find the service?

Is is worth it compared to UPC/Sky?

Any sign of them carrying Discovery channels or a PVR?

The TV reception is excellent but I can't see it replacing my Sky box. And I do miss UKTV Drama. Where I was still catching up up with all those programmes I missed all those years ago due to work.
