Cat C is entirely fixable, and obviously was if it had a subsequent MOT. Should have been disclosed in the ad mind, especially seeing as it was recorded and so easily checkable.

Did you ask him about it?

From the ad: "Small crack in the nearside plastics" as a result of a major collision and rebuild of the van.

Why didn't you just ask the owner whether the van was HPI clear before bidding? The way I do it is ask, bid, then run an HPI check if I win.

I generally go with sellers who have good feedback. Weigh up the whole deal and then buy. I even had the train journey planned and priced.

After the glowing description they have on the page, how could anyone buy this van. Council owned and maintained ! Around a graveyard !

I have emailed the seller and ebay with a copy of the report.

There is no way on gods earth that van should be on sale with that description and I aint paying for it ! It doesnt hurt to be honest and explain that it was fixed up to a high standard. But as it stands, would you trust this seller?

    Not me, thats for sure.

Get an AA check (or equivalent as I suspect thats private vehicles only) on it. Cat C writeoffs are restored and sold all the time - its A and B that are absolutely forbidden to return to the roads. There's companies that specialise in restoring Cat C vehicles, you even see equivalently damaged vehicles on sale at larger scrapyards.

    It *could* be absolutely fine.

    +1

If the owner lied, you do not have to go ahead with the purchase
