free wheel clutch alternator

I need to have my alternator checked and possibly have the free wheel clutch replaced,are there any places on the north side that are good? My car is a c220 cdi auto 2002.Is it hard to DIY I have seen some kit on the net that allows one to do it in situ. jerry
