Commuter rail fares in Cork

    Hi,
I've looked for this information on the Irish Rail website but can't find it. Does anyone know what the fares are for the Cobh-Cork commuter rail? Can you purchase a weekly, monthly or yearly ticket? The ticketmaster commuter ticket sales site only seems to cover intercity and Dublin.

    Thanks in advance,
    Stugots.

I'm pretty sure it's €5.50 return. You can get a combined city bus/cobh rail pass from Bus Eireann. I think that's €70 a month.

you can get weekly and monthly tickets, and the usual student reductions apply.

Wow - €70 seems like great value. Is that eligible for the taxsaver incentive scheme (purchase tickets through employer and save tax + PRSI on purchase).

I'm thinking of commuting via train from Midleton when the new line opens + assuming cost would be somewhere in the same region as for Cobh. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for a student ticket :(

my understanding is that a day return on the midleton line will be 9 or 10 euro.

For some bizarre reason, the closer you get to Cork, the cheaper the train fares become when compared to the same bus services.

Then again, you don't get wildcat strikes, delays and cancellations anything like there is on the train service on the bus service.

You can definitely get a tax saver ticket through your employer for the city buses, I'm not sure about rail though:(

It depends on where you are travelling to/from but I will give Cobh - Cork as an example:

    Day Return: €5.50
    Adult Weekly Season: €20.50
    Adult Monthly Season: €72.00
    Student Weekly Season: €11.40
    Student Monthly Season: €41.50

    Enterprise.
