Multiswitch Question

I have Sky+ upstairs and downstairs.

I'd like to add an HTPC downstairs with perhaps 2 Sat cards and maybe even a terrestrial DTV card and was reading about multiswitches.

Is it possible to have a 4 in 4 out switch, and only connect two of the lines from the LNB?

And would it work without disrupting the SKY+?

The way I understand multiswitchs , you will still need to feed the Sky+ boxes two lines each to have full sky + functionality , otherwise you have to watch whats recording or a previous recording on each box.

If you want to have two cards in the HTPC then you need a line for each and two for each of the Sky + boxes , so you need at least Six out on the switch, I think !

I have two lines going from the LNB to the upstairs box.

I have two lines going from the LNB to the downstairs box.
I hadn't anticipated doing anything different upstairs.

Can I put the multiswitch in the livingroom with the two feeds from the LNB, or do all LNB feeds need to go to the multiswitch?

A multiswitch needs all four feeds.

Not all work with Quads, some only Quattros. An EMP-Centaurai with 16 outlets is not expensive. It has dip switches to selct H/V and hi/lo on each of the four inputs when a Quad is used

Only certain (not all) models of EMP Centauri, watty. I think most of the Profi-Line series that works with a quad LNB, not many (if any?) of their Economy Line have Quad LNB support. Even so, the Profiline aren't too expensive. I bought a 16-out on hm-sat.de recently for about 170eur.

I should have written my clauses more clearly to explain that the mention EMP was a specific model. If there isn't DIP switches it probably needs Quattro?

That's only 11 euro per tuner input approx. Was it a 4 sat input model?

No, just one satellite input, with terrestrial mix.
