I'm looking for one of those sinks that grinds up food etc... like what is common in the US. Does anyone have one or know anywhere to get them in Ireland? Any thoughts on this would be great thanks...

Update: OK I found the Insinkerator thing that DID sell. There doesnt seem to be much info on the website about it. Is it a separate thing thats installed under the sink or do you need a new sink? It looks like the former...

Bowl & 1/2 sink with a wider outlet on the 1/2 bowl for the grinder.

Most shops that have white goods stock them , usually on sale from time to time

Got one at B&Q the last time I was looking for one , only because they were the cheapest.

    Thanks Bertie...

I figure it will help me save on wheelie bin costs as we pay by weight. I've been watching what we throw in the bin and a lot of it is food which can be fairly heavy at times...

I'll have a scope around some shops and see what there is out there. How do you find the one you have?

If you're on mains sewerage I seem to remember reading somewhere that the local authorities aren't too keen on these things as the increase in organic matter in the sewerage can cause problems in the sewerage plants or something. Why not just get a composting bin or a wormery to take care of food scraps?

I live in an estate so I assume I am on the main sewerage line? I'm too impatient for a composter or wormery, I want an instant solution, not an ideal character trait but hey, nobody's perfect...

In any case I dont really have the space for another container type product outside my three bed semi D. With three wheelie bins and a water softner the space is at a premium.

I'm also not keen on having a quantity of rotting food outside my house. I know they are built to not smell and to stop rodents from getting at them but most of the reports that I have heard about them seem to indicate that they are a bit smelly and do attract rodents...

I will however check with Meath CoCo to see what they think of the situation prior to buying anything...
