The south of France is quite a broad description of a huge area. It might help if you are a bit more specific.

I am going to the Provence and Nice in 2 weeks, so I might be able to help a bit, but would need to know where you really want to go.

My family live in the Languedoc for some of the year, I just came back from there last week myself. You need to be looking around the Narbonne Plage and around Gruissan, I would particularly recommend Gruissan, especially if you like sailing. Why the Languedoc specifically? I'll grant you it's amazing. I'd try here for a start http://www.gites-de-france.com/gites/fr/gites_ruraux and will ask the folks about the names of some estate agents for you.

Here's one although you can't really see the apartment so it could be a kip http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/france/FR350.htm

Thanks for the help. Decided we wanted to explore this part of France and wanted a nice base.

Far from endless. There are only about 2/3 worthwhile and listed in the forum somewhere (one of my posts)

Check out the Galway Wine Growers, (Google) they own some appartments in various villages in the region.
