Drove by this on Sunday morning and the car park and the Arches where cordoned off by police tape. Most of the tape is still lying in the car park this morning. Any one hear what happened down there on Saturday Night/Sunday Morning?

The car park is now blocked off by Fingal CC as parts of the bridge fell off.
I wonder if the police tape was because of this.

    Viaduct Casting Comes Crashing Down.
One of the castings from the Viaduct came crashing to the ground on Sunday 25th. There are a total of 22 castings spanning the 11 arches and it looks as if the casting split in the middle. It's a Godsend that no-one was hurt. The Council were busy today supporting each casting with wire to the railing above. The Railway Viaduct was completed in 1844 to facilitate the building of the Dublin to Drogheda Railway which was officially opened on 15th March 1844 when a steam locomotive "The Nora Creina" pulling seven carriages and with 565 passengers aboard, covered a distance from Clontarf Embankment to Drogheda in 98 minutes

Ah this explains why the trains weren't running on Sunday.

    Cheers for that.
