How'd the ball get through? He's a dodgykeeper obviously!!!;) 1 and 2 are great, 3rd one i dont think is as good. the whole lot a super sharp though, 70-200 was it?

I put the 3rd one in as I liked where the ball had settled, I was using a
300mm for these shots I have a 80-200 aswell but only have one body and the wife has put a embargo on spending.

(Well I have two bodies but the second is a D40x, which wont work with the lenses)

I notice a lot of GAA teams have the player numbers on the front of their shirt now. Should make captioning much easier.
A lot of people think that sports photography is easy, but they don't be long getting sick of it, when someone asks them for a full set of images, cropped & captioned, before the paper deadline.

I remember seeing a hurley photo years and years ago that I can still picture clearly.
It must have been a puck out from the keeper and the ball was dropping into midfield where a group of players were jumping to challenge for the ball.
One man's hand was higher than the rest and he had the ball firmly in his grip. An opposition player had taken a swing at the ball in the air and the photo catches his hurl splintering on the catcher's forearm. Amazing image.

You'd probably want to be watching Munster club hurling for that kind of passion (violence) :D

Met two pros in Porlaoise in a restaurant an hour after the game today and they were tapping away at the Keyboard captioning, one told me he has not had a day off for 16, including a trip to Portugal with the Irish Soccer team and he is away to London on Wednesday, I agree its not all glamour.

But the numbers on the front of the jersies is a great thing!

Whatever about names on the back of the shirts, numbers on the front and shorts is one thing I wish the eL would force all clubs to do.

Numbers on the front would do me nicely!

Nice shots. agree that 1 and 2 are strongest.

Nice shots. I will definitely be down in Nowlan Pk for the game vs Wexford on June 14th.

Give me a shout and we can go down together, could take another 3 in the car if anyone is interested!

And then Croke Park for the Final!

It was painful stuff last year coming home after Wexford bet them by a point. Nowlan Pk is a lovely ground as well.

You're totally right. Getting an image is just a small part of sports photography.

I've enough pressure and deadlines in my work, so I choose not to have that in my hobby. I've certainly seen the pressure trying to get the shots, transfer to the laptop, caption, process and get them to the papers from other photographers. Thankfully any press work I do have long enough deadlines.

Some great image there Dodgykeeper. Personally, I like #2 best.
