According to motorcheck.ie "It's a RED MAKE UNSPECIFIED UNKNOWN MODEL."
One of my cars is listed as UNKNOWN on cartell and motorcheck as well. Seems the database they use is either out of date or corrupt.

I've often thought about why certain cars come up with this UNKNOWN status, and I reckon it is because when they input the data into the computers about the cars, they probably only have a drop-down menu and a certain list of vehicles to choose from. Any not on the list are set to UNKNOWN. It is the same story with various models of cars, especially American and JDM cars (i.e. a Chevrolet Caprice would come up as CHEVROLET UNKNOWN or whatever). Stupid system really.

I wonder, you would think they would have had a setup so that they could enter the name manually if it was unknown?

Well, funny that you mention that, because I remember putting in the reg. of two different DeLorean's a while back (out of boredom), and one came up as a DELOREAN and the other came up as UNKNOWN. So maybe they can enter in the names of the cars but they probably don't bother most of the time.

IF131 is a 1904 Minerva owned and restored by Denis Cronin from Cork. Its restoration was completed over 25 years or so, 22 of which were spent looking for an engine. Its one of only 4 in the world. It was taken off the road in 1917 and stored in a barn until the 50's when it was left in a fileld until 1980. Is it Ireland's oldest roadworthy original Irish reg car?

And following on from the other thread about number plates, since IF 131 is on a 1904 car, you'd imagine that IF 23 would be an earlier car, but it's on a 1965 Mercedes SL !
