opinion on nikon D80

just wondering whats the verdict on the nikon D80 ? wanna get one, and came across this one, good price ?

Wait for the D90 to come out and then watch the prices for the D80 drop... but you might want a D90 then!

The word on the street is that it's coming out in a few months - July/Aug at the latest apparently.

Whoops - didn't click on the link - at less than E300 it's either stolen or a fake/scam. Even second hand it'd be going for 500+

Even if the D90 is announced in July or August it will still be 3 or months before it is available. You could be waiting until Christmas to actually get your hands on one.

But prices (especially second hand ones) will start dropping as soon as they come out.

That's to be balanced with the fact that you'll have to wait a while before you can start taking photos. Personally if I knew the next upgrade was 6 months away I'd buy now but when it's 1-2 months away I would just wait the extra few days.

Poster has to decide how much they want a D80 now or wait for an unknown number of months for the D90 to be announced and then released.

I came across this site on the consumer>bargains thread where they claim that it is a scam site, so i wouldnt buy from there. Search through the threads and see what they say. Their rule is "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is". And a D80 for that price, is most definitely too good to be true.

good camera... its not much up from a d70 tbh so i'd personally opt for second hand d70 and save a packet
