Does anyone have any recommendations for campsites in and around the west region?

Used one in Cairnryan(?), just north of Stranrar many years ago, as we'd a very early ferry to Larne/Belfast. The midges were unbearable. Be wary of hot weather/trees/water combinations as this can attract them. Also theres one just west of Glasgow to avoid as it's right next to a motorway. If I was really useful i'd know the name of it (etc),but I don't as it was friends who stayed there and couldn't sleep due to traffic noise! Google maps could be handy to help avoid this problem. Generally most of them are grand though.

These sites may help you though:
