Unfortunately, I was at the Trappatoni mess tonight. I wish I had have gone over for the rugby. Would have been much better.

Hey, you gotta make the most of things. I couldn't go to the rugby, so made do with the options available. :D

At least I was there when Leinster won the Magners League. :p

Just wondering lads, how do you get beside the photographers for the match/matches? Do some of you work for papers or something? Just wondering as I am hoping to become a photographer in the future (Soon as I get this thing they call the leaving out of the way :D) I am really interested in it so just wondering whats the best way to get started.

Ask Leinsterman when he drops in. He has been able to sort a few out I believe. ;)

I don't go in beside the photographers, I go in AS a photographer.

There are many ways to gain access. The important part is having some form of portfolio. So, build up images from lower games, through local clubs.

Knowing the right people to ask also helps.

Having images published in papers, magazines, club programmes, etc, certainly never hurts and gives you some extra credibility.

Some leagues and associations require accreditation through a 3rd party company (such as for with the ERC for the Heineken Cup).

In short, there's never one simple answer.

    Some nice shots there lads.
I was too busy to attend.
Didn't even get to watch the rugby.
Saw the second half of the football on TV.

It was one of the busiest weekends of sport I've ever witnessed!
Could have covered 7 seperate events, involving 4 different sports.
Simply couldn't find any sports photographers to do some work for me.
Ended up working 30 hours myself!

I was surprised not to see you there until Paul explained why you couldn't make. If you ever get stuck gimme a shout and I'll help out the best I can ;)

    No worries, Ken.
It was such short notice, that I only thought of the people I knew in the Dublin area.
Not sure if I'd ever take on so much again.
    I worked 84 hours this week! :(

I had a "family" weekend, aside from the game last night. Not often such things happen all together.

Sounds like a mad time, but hopefully it was rewarding.

Lads, some good shots there in this thread!

Peadar, a very busy week for you. I'm a beginner and no use to you but if you ever need any hand next time, I don't mind at all. :o
