Modem Router or not?

I'm finally going to ge around to making my broadband wireless only I don't have a notion about where to start, primary use of it will be for playing an xbox 360 online. ISP is eircom and I've been with them for a long time, I figure I'll need to get a modem router or will a normal wireless router suffice?
Any advice at all on the subject about what I should be looking for or checking or what would be a good router would be greatly appreciated

Are you sure that what you have from Eircom is not already wireless? If not then something like this netgear model would be a good option. http://netgear.co.uk/wireless_adslrouter_dg834g.php

Don't forget if you want to go wireless only you will need a wireless card for your pc or laptop (if its not a recent model),
