I saw one in Maplins a while back but forgot to note the brand.

Does anyone know if a single reciever that will do DTT and DTS in the one unit, and also if this is a good idea in the first place. would seperate boxes be better.

    thanks

I know freesat.ie had dtt/free to air receivers in the past, give Mike a shout there

Separtes may be better. Combos tend to be more expensive and less flexible. Also DTT more in a state of flux

    Kaon (Tuners only version)
Reelbox Lite (older), Reelbox Avantguarde (latest, but very expensive)
    Lyngbox (Partial PVR)
XP or Media Centre with 2 x sat cards and 2 x dtt cards (full PVR)

    Darkbox Combo

    HD Satellite and Terrestrial
    PVR Upgradable via esata

Stay away from DarkBox. Full of bugs at the moment. No PC channel editor, picture stutters , even reboots by itself, can’t rename favorite … by far the worst ever receiver I spend money on.
It might improve in the future but right now it’s a waste of good money.

Combo boxes are good because then all you need is one remote and there is one epg mvision box is good 65pound you can rename favourites and channels also 7 day epg on dvb-t

    Combo boxes are bad.

One remote is easy. Get a learning remote and it will do everything. Lidl had ones at under €20 that could do 7 gadgets.

Philips, One4All, Logitech do more expensive models.

Beside the combo remote usually won't control the Home Theatre amp, TV, VHS, DVD-recorder and SkyBox.
(We have Sky for some pay TV and Motorised Satellite receiver for "other channels").

Are there any good, but very small DTT receivers? I would like to try DTT but want to avoid adding another box to the DVD and Skybox already sitting under the televison.

For the UK, not for Ireland yet.

Wait another 6 months. Don't waste yer money and get arrows in the back.

I stopped stocking them as I felt it was unfair to sell a receiver to a customer when I can't guarantee the service as RTE Trial digital transmission is meant to finish up shortly and they maybe moving directly to MPEG4.

These are the way to go ....

    http://www.sony.de/view/ShowProduct.action?product=KDL-40W4000&site=odw_de_DE&imageType=Main&category=TVP+32-40+Sony+BRAVIA+TV#pageType=TechnicalSpecs

A combined HD freesat tuner, and presumably digital terestial tuner, with MPEG4. All you need in one box, one remote. Price is the only question .. but hopefully competition will sort that out. Also, one set type for all Europe. Here's hoping.

    You mixed up some things.
The sony W4000 got an combined tuner for dvb-c/dvb-t/analogue. There is no tuner for satellite.
Panasonic announced a new plasma series with combined freesat/freeview aka dvb-s/s2 and dvb-t tuners.
