Recommendations for trading up

Hi all, hope you can give me some advice here. I'm a 24 year old male looking to trade up from my current '01 VW Polo. While I liked the Polo, it was the car I learned to drive in and have grown out of it at this point and looking for something that's a bit trendier, more comfortable and has some nice features. I use it mostly on short journeys, around town and driving to work on the M50.

I've got about 10k-11k to spend and I'd like something that's cheap to insure and is reliable. I'd say something around the 1.4l mark, but I'm open to suggestions.

    Any advice appreciated, cheers!

When I was upgrading like yourself, 23 years old had 10-12k to spend. I got a Tdi Passat with full spec. If you wait till July you should see plenty of dealer imports around which will lower the price and tax for you.

I wouldn't bother with small engined cars at this stage. Insurance shouldn't be a problem, or tax at this stage.

1.3-1.4 vvti corolla ( 97-01) best of the corolla range , be it salon or hatch , there interior is dull but believe me, that vvti engine is economical and can give you the poke you needed for driving in town.... and the comfortable seat for when your queuing on the m50....
