They have a good name for VAG servicing, if that's any help. What car is it?

be very careful here - I can't say anything more yet, because I could be going legal with them

put a lot of stuff through them for years...no probs. Good with diesels. Do a few classics.

Have had work done with them and been very happy. Friend bought a car from them and had no issues.

I've found them pleasant to deal with, but I don't trust them. Why?

Some years ago I had a gearbox failure in my Gti, so I brought it to them. They organised a reconditioned box from a third party specialist. Two years later it failed again with the same problem. This time I brought it to an expert who stripped it down in front of me and showed me how the previous guy had repaired the box with dodgy parts.

Of course that may not have been Jetstar's fault, but when I got to watch the strip-down I noticed the special jig to hold the engine in place while the box was out. I also noticed that it coincided precisely with a massive chunk out of my paintwork that had appeared while the car had been in Jetstar and of which they denied all knowledge...

Eventually I overcame my reluctance to go back and brought in a T4 Caravelle for a service. No problem, but I noticed the mechanic was extremely solicitous when I came to collect it; a lot more so than when I had dropped it off. Next morning I came out to a flat; a large tear in the sidewall, clearly badly curbed. It didn't happen when I was driving it and the only others to do so were...

Once again I went back with the Caravelle (slow learner). Worn wishbone bushes were diagnosed and they told me that they would have to change the wishbones. I protested and was told (by the boss) that VW didn't sell the bushes separately, so the only option was to change the whole thing.

I checked it out: the bushes are available separately and for about €12 a set! However it seems they're a real bugger to fit and, when you consider labour and the fact that the wishbone comes with a new balljoint, it's better value to change the lot.

Perfectly reasonable answer; so why did they have to lie to me?

Three times to Jetstar, my three experiences. Make up your own mind.

I was told about this Garage when I was at Cuala Gaa. Jetstar now Gerard Lee Motors sponsored the Mini All Ireland. I have a Golf TDI with a injection problem. I brought it to a so called dealer and they were suggesting a major over haul with the bill coming in over 1,000 yo-yos I brought it to Gerard Lee Motors and they fixed the Air Mass Sensor and it only cost me 300 Euros. Really good guys and they really know their cars. I have no problem recommending them.
