    Preparing From Korea

    Hi all,

First off, I hope you're all enjoying your weekend - I believe the weather's finally picked up at home....

I have a couple of questions, and I'd be really grateful if anyone could help me out.

I'm currently based in Asia; I've been teaching English to Korean children for the past two years. I've had the idea of doing primary teaching in the back of my mind for a long time, and I've decided that I'm ready to go for it. I realise it's not going to be a walk in the park, but I'm hoping that speaking the same language as the students might make things a bit less complicated :-)

I've been doing a bit of research online (I'm still at the basic stages), but I think I'm going to apply for the Graduate Diploma in Dublin starting February next year. With the interviews for Pats, Marino and Blackrock being held in December, this gives me 6 months or so to prepare. Getting to grips with the auld Gaeilge is my first priority I reckon - I'm at a slight disadvantage over here (not being able to do any courses or grinds), and it's been a good 7 years since I last read / spoke / listened to it.

I'm wondering whether anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to go about preparing for the oral. I really need to go back to basics, and I'd like to get some books sent out to me. Would anyone have any ideas as to what books would be any good? I'm also wondering whether anyone has done an Irish course online, or if I have any realistic options in that direction?

As I said, I'd be eternally grateful for any info or suggestions.

    Cheers,

    Waygook
