I'll be getting my own car in the next few weeks.
    I'm thinking:
    a) BMW 320 of some sort.
    b) Audi A4/A3
    c) Maybe a Lexus IS200

I will be going from Cork to Dublin once or twice a month and want a comfortable ride. I really like the IS200 and they seem to be cheap as chips... there must be a reason behind this? Fuel efficiency or something??
Anyway, some suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not good at making decisions...

Start looking at cars for 19000 grand and make silly offers. Lot of people stuck at moment; see how hard is it to sell a car thread. 320 d worth trying

Don't know about €19,000 with your budget but certainly start at the 16500-17000 bracket. Dealers dying to get rid of their stock.

If its a comfort your after then I would suggest looking at a Volvo. Their seats are probably the most comfortable around especially the leather ones. They are quite cheap too second hand, downside is they are expensive to maintain at Volvo dealers.

The current S40 came out in 2004 so I reckon they are within your budget:

Diesel mondeo. Way better to drive than an Audi and far better value , In my experience far more reliable too. A 3 series at that money will be leggy and the lexus is a boy racer car.

    Volvo S40.

Have one and they're a great car for a long journey, great stereo, super comfy leather seats, quiet at speed and a car that feels like it was designed to do long distance driving all it's life.
