Advice Needed: A Sprint Through Gatwick!

Hi, me and my mates are going to Portugal after the Leaving Cert and my friend who booked the flights left it a bit tight on time and for some reason we are connecting in Gatwick, but the flights are paid for now (exept mine incase we change). Here is the details:

    Dublin to Gatwick:

    Ryanair - Departs 14:00, Arrive 15:20

    Gatwick to Faro:

Easy Jet - Gate Closes 15:55, Departs 16:35

The rest are fine, but the bit on bold means we have 35mins to get from our seats on the plane, collect our baggage, and get accross the airport to the check in desk.

What do you guys think? Can we make it or should we change?

Not a hope, I would think.

No chance. Might be possible if it was carry on baggage only and you checkin online in advance for both flights, but if your checking in bags then the EasyJet checkin will have closed before you've even landed.

Don't know the airport but I'd be a little bit more positive than Buffy :)

It's possible if everything works out for you I'd say...

Ryanair fly into the South terminal and Easyjet fly out of the North so you'll have to catch the terminal-transfer bus..
Transferring to the North Terminal is simple with our free automatic train which operates every three minutes with a journey time of two minutes. The transit station is located on the first floor in the North Terminal and adjacent to the main railway station in the South Terminal.

How about one of you runs on ahead to keep the easyjet desk open while the others get the bags?

If you are hand baggage only-You can do it.
    Otherwise NO.

Perfectly doable if you just have hand bagage though assuming the ryanair flight is on time.
Also assuming that you can check in online (web check in) for the easyjet flight.

I was the last person on board with 15 mins to flight departure the other week in heathrow T1 for example but I was hand baggage only and had printed my boarding pass via online check in the previous day.

My advice is for the whole lot of ye to stuff a few pairs of shorts,t-shirts etc into your carry on.
Buying some clothes out there might be cheaper than trying to either book new flights or change the one you have

35 minutes between landing and Easyjet desk closing.

By the time you land, you're easyjet flight will have long gone.
I fly gatwick dublin couple of times a month, have given up on ryanair for this route for the constant delays.

By the time you even get the bags the flight will have left. For doing such flights you need to leave at least 3 hours between flights- not thirty minutes.

Obvious question but why didnt you fly direct? There are bargains to be had..

Sorry 3 hours between connecting flights is rarely if ever needed.

If the Ryanair flight arrived on time (I know, unlikely due to previous poster experience) then 20 minutes to get off the plane and pick up the bags is very doable.

I had read the bold time as being the flight time. I still don't think it's possible though.

Ryanair fly into the South terminal and Easyjet fly out of the North so you'll have to catch the terminal-transfer bus..

easyJet are actually split across both terminals, just to complicate things :p.

As anyone who's watched "Airline" knows they are very fastidious - when gate closes/check-in closes etc they really won't flinch.

All you need is a delay with Ryanair/delay with bags and the whole thing will fall apart.

It's way too tight to leave to chance, given my experiences in Gatwick

Thats not a connecting flight- A connecting flight is one where your bags etc are all transferred for you.

Depending where you're inbound flight arrives, the walk to the baggage belt could be 10 minutes, another 20 for bags to arrive, checkin closes 40 before departure. Waaaaaay too tight imo

Not if Ryanair are involved anyway knowing their record for lateness.

Flights are pretty cheap to the UK these days .. for the sake of 20 or 30 euro why not arrange an earlier flight in the day and just write off the one's that'll get you in late ?

Sorry to say OP, but you haven't a hope. Like random says, get new Ryanair flights.

Doubt it can be done... I flew into Gatwick with Ryanair 6 weeks ago and the flight was 10 mins late from Dublin and it took a further 25 mins to get out the front door of the terminal.

Which is the exact time they have to do it. I'd still say it's possible but I'm not saying that it i'd do it:)

Im doing the same going to Brno in Czech, have to change in Stansted. Think I have about two hours. That should be plenty. I am checking in bags as it will be a long stay. What do you people think? Is this doable?

2 hours in stanstead is grand no worries there, 32 minutes in gatwick will leave you red faced, sweaty (with no deodourant , if your hand baggage only) and shouting obscenities (in between deep breaths) at the now empty easyjet desk.

    change flight.

Was through 2 weeks ago, Spain>Stanstead, - - Stanstead>Kerry, was surprised there was No Transit Area.

Had to go out, and back in through Security again. Had loads of time and only cary-on bag, but if it was busy and if u had check-in bags, well don't cut it too tight.

    🧐IMHO, God wants us all to ENJOY many,many ice-creams , 🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦
