    Hi,

A friend of mine was recently the victim of an amazon Scam, where bascially he bought a (Too) cheap game that was never delivered, when he contacted Amazon ther said the seller had disappeaerd.

I would like to know what guarantees online selling sites have i.e seller A lists hundreds of products with no intention of supplying them, transfers the proceeds to their account, withdraws the lot and sticks two fingers up to everyone.

What comebacks would the likes of eBay / Amazon have on these scammers, surely they could pursue these criminals somehow, any thoughts?

Only if they can find them though, or their real identities which is most likely what the issues here is. In short a lesson learned, if it is looking to good to be true...

Take a civil case is probably the only thing to do. If the person used a stolen credit card in any way, or stolen identity, then it would be fraud and a criminal matter.

I'd be more interested in what kind of comeback the person who has been scammed has, given that eBay and Amazon facilitated the scam in the first place, and probably took a fee from it too. Currently, if you're scammed on eBay, there's very little protection if the seller/buyer has cleared off. If you're a buyer who paid with a credit card, then you have protection from them. If you pay with debit, cash or bank transfer, then you've got nothing.
