Scrap yards & TR7?

    Hi all,

Just come over to Ireland (living in Co. Wicklow) from the UK where I spent many happy weekends scouring round scrap yards picking up bits for my TR7 or anything that looked like it might fit!

Any good scrapyards in Co. Wicklow or in Ireland at all? The sort that you just wonder round the yard?

And, lastly, any other TR7 owners on these boards?

    Welcome :)

Wander-about yards are pretty rare these days - public liability insurance concerns are, I think, at the root of it. As for TR7s - not aware of any - never a popular choice of Triumph model I think its fair to say.

    I've a TR7.
One of these days I might actually finish restoring it and get it back on the road.

The scrapyard across from the Red Cow (just off the M50) is one of the few wander-about scappy's left. They tend to have the occasional classic car there, I've seen Mercedes 450SEL's and Vauxhall Viva's there in the past.

I'm heading there on Monday to get some parts for my Micra, I'll keep a look out.

    A couple of suggestions.......

    Kildare
Ger Reid Car Dismantlers, Suncroft (near The Curragh). He has loads of older cars, but apparently only opens by appointment. I havent been in the yard for years, but I'm pretty sure there is a TR7 there. 045-526 766.

    Wexford
Doyles Garage, Courtown Harbour (Peugeot dealership). Apparently they have two large yards full of older cars, but have no interest in selling parts off them...maybe you have good powers of persuasion?!;)

Check out my 'Car Dismantlers' thread for other yards.

Where abouts? would be handy as the nearest one I know is in Dun laoghaire?

There was a small one on the green park road, but thats long gone.

    I must echo Skibum: Where?

The little dismantlers on the Green Park road is indeed long gone; and just when I'd invested time and money in making friends there!

Aint it a balls the way that scrappies are now EU regulated,my local one was great to wander around, and cheap too(nearly complete MK1 XR2 interior for 30 quid at one stage, and a complete but ragged capri literally saved from the crusher for 80quid delivered to the door, those were the days:D...),i ran my mondeo on peanuts back in my apprenticeship days!!but now you could turn up in a suit and tie and not get dirty, they get the parts for you.I miss the climbing over piles of cars and getting filthy, hours could pass literally in minutes!!!!
