I want it - I need it

How many of ye're purchases are out of nessescity Vs desire? I have bought a few bits and pieces because (I've told myself) I needed them, like the replica Thompson sling and pouches. I've told myself I needed allot of stuff, like a new pistol to replace my M9 that doesn't work to well.

Now I'm looking at a tactical vest (this one) I want one with a cross draw holster but the holster is about the only use I'll get out of it. I doubt any pouches will be any good for me Thompson or Mac11 mags but still I want one.

Can I justify the purchase? I've been trying not to go over board buying stuff, seeing as I've only skirmished 3 times but I can't shake the itch. I bought a cheap revolver off MIA 3 weeks ago hoping it would satisfy my "need" for new airsoft but another week later I ended up buying one of his sig p266s.

for me there is no need in airsoft its all about the want, to play the sport of airsoft you 'need' very little

Just about all of my gear gets functional use out of it - granted I do have stuff that is period specific and only gets used with certain 'outfits' for want of a better word (like my M1 helmet or VN M16 mag bandoliers).

Do I need all of the gear I have to play airsoft. No. So I'm probably balanceed somewhere between need and want with it.

The only stuff that I consider to have been frivilous purchases are the B.A.R. because .. well ... it's just the sexeh and my MP7 (which I got on sale anyway). The Walther PPK I don't count here since it was for charity.

    Hmm lets see

    6 AEG's
1 Bolt Action Sniper I never use with a Scope that is too strong for Airsoft
    5 Pistols
    4 BDU's
2 ABS Helmets & 1 Metal Helmet which is totally Airsoft impracticable

Hmmm yes I need more :D

Need? 1 Aeg with 1 Hicap mag (or half a dozen midcaps)

Want? A whole load of extra stuff :D

I've promised myself (and my credit card) I'm taking the month off this month, no more spending for a month or two, except that mp5 i bought the other day, and those few small bits that I need which probably add up to a couple hundred euro, but honest, nothing more, although maybe the new dboys scar and some extra mags... :)

Edit: and of course there's the AI tornado grenades

I've had to restrict myself for budgetary reasons to 2 AEGs (I have a semi-functional M4 which I told the gf I couldn't sell for that reason, but I can't use it anyway :-( ), 1 pistol, and then a small pile of support kit. I wouldn't mind a bit more stuff, but I went through a phase of getting stuff like extra mid-cap mags and accessories, now that I got all the mags I need, the only thing I need is small upgrades to my kit.

    Boring but practical.

    The basics:
    AEG
    Goggles or mask
    BBs

    More:
    Spare battery
    Extra magazines
    Silicone spray
    Pistol
Holster - probably a waste of time
    Gas

    A good set-up:
    Harness
    Camo clothing (combats, jacket, hat/helmet)
    Smart charger
    Mid-cap magazines
    AEG
    Propane and adapter

    Better:
Optical sights or Holographic 'dot' sights
    Gun bags
Variety of bb weights and colours
Comms unit - don't have. I'm the only man on my team :-(
Chronograph - don't have. Can't justify it at the price really, but should get one

Somebody add to this list! It's all that occurred to me...

I needed my M23 Pioneer vest since I use midcaps and I needed my VFC AKS74N. Most of the stuff I've bought though has been pure want. In fact a lot of my stuff has never been used in a game or at least not used by me.

Galaxy MP5 PDW never been used
JG MP5SD6 never been used by me, just my brother
ACM sringer shotgun, again only used by my brother in games
JLS FN F2000 never been used
    RPG-7 never been used
    Vz.61 Skorpian never been used

From now on I'm restricting my buys to AEG's that can fill roles that my current ones can't.

I'm going through this at the moment. I'm getting a comms set even though I won't get much use out of it until next year :D

And I'm going to get a VFC 416...just because :)

Id say buy the tac vest or you'l never get it off your mind until you do, I bought one this week because I wanted to, to justify having the tac vest I now "have" to buy lots of other stuff to put in the many empty pouches.

I "have" to buy lots of new camo gear because my old stuff is very "faded" - see! just keep telling yourself things like that and its so much easyer to justify having a huge collection of stuff that will probably never get used.

word of advise for those drinkers out there. Hide the bloody credit card before you go on the booze, iether that or block ebay

Unfortunately there is too much good airsoft gear and I want it all and I want it now!!

I am always seeing little bits of equipment that I think I need (translate to WANT). I buy loads of gear and then only actually use my ICS M4 or my PTW and chest harness.

But I am sure I will continue getting more and more stuff that I don't actually need.

    That's what I'm afraid of. :D

I never had this problem until I found out MIA would take my laser. I have a habit of booking random holidays when I'm drunk now I've got airsoft to worry about too.

    I need a new car.
    I want a VFC Mk43 and a B.A.R.
They're roughly the same in price. Not the Mk43 and B.A.R., the two aeg's are the same price as the car.
