Buying Canon 40D - any experience of elitegadgets.com?

    Hey all,

Canon have 150 euro cash-back on the 40D at the moment so its finally time for me to go digital! (still using an eos 5) Their only stipulation is that its a genuine euro model and not a grey import. I presume they can tell by the serial number you need to send them.

In that light, does anyone have any experience with elitegadgets.com?
Can anyone confirm that tekmo.co.uk are definitely grey imports?

Can anyone suggest other legit sellers for a great price on a 40D body?

    Thanks,
    Paul

You could try this list of sellers ( http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/prod576.html ) and there is a sticky above with recommended sellers. Pretty sure the ones listed here are all non grey.
One thing there is an entry over on avfourums about elitegadgets and it claims that they only deal in grey imports as well.

OP, I've never heard of that shop before.

Do you definitly not want a camera from HK?

    Check out Calumet :)

    lol, sorry!

I was debating the whole HK thing for ages, but right now there's very little to be saved because of the cashback from canon, especially knowing my luck with customs.

I think i'll go with calumet.

On an aside, i just tried fixing my 50mm f1.4 as per this guide:

Moderate success, manual focus works again, but AF is bust :( might have to get another one. DOH!

i thought i saw 40D wt lens kit at Dixon in Stansted Airport last weekend for 740 pound-ish... if canon cashback can still apply, it's a bargain alrite. no doubt it's a UK stock, so it's safe buy.
