A couple of very silly questions coming up.

My 2 year old Whirlpool fridge freezer is playing up. (entry level type from DID) and I can't find a manual for it.

There's a yellow switch behind the temperature conrol knob inside the fridge - can anyone tell me what does this do ?

Does a higher setting on the temperature knob mean the fridge will be cooler ?

not being familiar with whirpool models i'm going to hazard a guess and say the yellow button is either a holiday / sleep mode button or a defrost button.

and yes on most if not all firdges the higher the number on the dial the colder the fridge is by a couple of degrees :)

the button is a super freeze option -what it does is runs the motor constantly without cycling to freeze down quicker ,it bypasses the thermostat ,used when you might do a big freezer shop ,you normally hit this switch for a couple of hours -

however if the button is left on constantly it will cause problems as its bypassing the stat and running the motor too much and could burn it out

unplug ur fridge let it defrost ,plug in again and let it start cycling without that switch on ,if you still get poblems it may be too late for your fridge

are those switches not usually on the outside on the door in a module or inside the freezer rather than the fridge?

no ,they are located where ever the thermostat is located as its effectivly a bypass switch of the stat ,it usually lights up when its activated to let you know its on
