Travelling from Shannon to UK, I have Ryanair online check in, it is telling me I need a Passport or National ID card, passport is still at Passport office, so no passport. Has anyone used Irish Drivers licence (even though it says not to) instead?

Only passport if you are checking in online, we don't have a national ID card so that's not an option anyway. You can only use a driving license if you are chekcing in at the airport.

Ok, thanks for info. So at the moment I have selected the option of online check in but I guess this can be changed at the airport checkin desk? And I presume there is a charge? Do you have experience of this?

They will charge you if you end up having to checkin at the airport, don't know how much that is though but it will be a couple of quid more than the pre-pay price for airport checkin. You will be able to pay this at the airport though.
