I will throw this out in case it is of use to anyone else.
LD lines have started a new route from Rosslare to Le Havre and there is a special of €99 one way for car and 2 passengers.
Never used the company, sailed with Celtic link last yr but competition is always good.

    Check out:
    http://www.ldlines.co.uk/news.html for details.

Really won't come into it's own till 2009.
Every weekend the ship will make a round trip between the ports of Le Havre (Friday) and Rosslare (Saturday). With a service speed of 24 knots, the new ferry will do the crossing between France and Ireland in 20 hours.

You must book by July 15th 2008 for the special EUR99 fare. It is also only available to the first 999 bookings.
But could not get any availability via website despite putting in different dates.
Let me know if anyone can get the above price.

I'm off on the new Irish Ferries ship to France soon.

At the rate oil is going, LD Lines will have to land everyone with some fuel surcharge by the time they start this weekly service.

Should be bookable with prices on www.aferry.ie or though any travel agent I suspect.

Sounds like a good deal if they can pull it off without a mad fuel surcharge etc. The offer (the one I've seen anyway) also doesn't clarify if port taxes are included or not.

Le Harve, is certainly a better port for accessibility to the motorway network.

20 hours, mmm, they will have to have a doctor onboard then, as far as I know any scheduled journey over 18 hours requires this.

Mad hours though regarding the schedule,

    * Departure from Le Havre every Friday at 23:59, arriving in Rosslare at 21:30 on Saturday.
    * Departure from Rosslare every Sunday at 01:00, arriving in Le Havre at 22:00 on Sunday.
Though the crew have a nice lie over.

EV, let us know what the Oscar Wilde is like? I used to work on the aul Normandy, god did that babe roll.. You arriving in Roscoff or Cherbourg, cause in roscoff there is a fabulous beech walking distance from the port.. Anyways, have a great trip...
