Protecting wireless network

Hey there, this may be the wrong forum so please feel free to move it. I live in an apartment block and have put password protecting my wireless network on the long finger. When the nice man from NTL came to install it he have me a Netgear CD which I have used and it has instructed me that I can't be on wireless to activate it....I really don't understand tbh! (Scratches head). All I want to do is password protect the wireless network I am paying for. Thanks in advance...!

Enable WPA security on your network;

Connect your router to your laptop with an ethernet cable. Run the CD. Follow the wizard to configure the network. Turn on WPA.

Thanks Sherifu, sorry for being a numpty but is the ethernet cable just a standard network cable then?

Yes. You should have got one with the router ... but any standard cable should work.
