I have no idea if this is a fake or not but this is from engadget.
It would seeem to make the Canon line up very heavy at the bottom?

"Hot on the heels of that Rebel XS / 1000D leak from last week comes a handful of specs and new info on the rumored DSLR. According to the camera fanatics at Photography Bay, the new model will sport a 10.1 megapixel CMOS chip, Digic III, 7-point auto-focus, 3 FPS, a 2.5-inch LCD display, will weigh 540 grams, and should feature simplified 450D-like menus. The camera's price-point is rumored to be on the low end of things, which furthers our suspicions that this will be a replacement for the aging Rebel XT. You'll know more when we know more, so stay tuned."

What do you mean by this?

Thay have the Pro range, and the semi-pro range.
Then the entry level range, the 300 replaced by 350, by 400 anf then by 450.
The extra features of the 450 go above that of an entry level camera, yet not quite makeing it semi-pro.
It would appear that a xxxxD range would just step back, reducing prices etc for people who want an SLR but a basic one.

It might even be a joke

well the 400D is being kept in the line up and theres the 450D - its hard to see a place for another canon consumer dslr

AFAIK the 450D is not really a replacement for the 400D since the 400D will still be sold - the 450D sits between the 400D and 450D - where would this 1000D go?

Anyway it might be a joke yet

Id be more interested in seeing information on the 5D replacement...

I was under the impression that the 400 was being phased out, no longer in production, but still available due to stocks etc
