I am writing now because I have noticed a hair of mine has impaled my thumb. It is only about 1cm deep but it is still really cool. This happened to me about 2 years ago and I got so scared I quickly pulled it out but now I'm just thinking it's so cool. Anyone have this happen to them before?

Let me get this straight...you have hair capable of penetrating human skin? I would look at this from a business perspective and start growing your hair for money, hair as strong as that would make the perfect rope! The dutch would be furious!

Impaled. Hmmm. I'll need a pic to see if it is actually impaled.

It is called an ingrown hair:

It may look cool but can lead to infection etc etc

front or back of your thumb?

if its the back then maybe it's growing out of your thumb?

if its the front then maybe you should check your palms as well :pac:

Hang on a second, this guy promised us an impaling hair. I'm not settling for your run of the mill ingrown hair.

    OP, pics or gtfo.

A m8 of mine got that on his lower back and it causes him series issues. Ended up getting surgery.

I'd heard that can happen wraps around the spine and can have major reprecussions, but since it is just the OP's thumb I'm sure he'll be fine or not.....

If the hair is a pube then you have to stop playing with yourself, OP. Or wear gloves.

Right, obviously not cool because she had to have an op, but in fairness - in her arse, that's funny :D

I think the OP must have been having us on. No pics, didn't happen.

Hair impalement has happened me too a few times - once I remember feeling a sore spot on my foot, and thinking it was just a bit of fluff or something caught in my sock rubbing off my skin, but lo and behold when I went to remove said bit of fluff, I found a rib of my hair (head hair, before anyone start saying anything about pubes or freakish foothair) had somehow managed to get caught in my sock, and work it's way in under my skin.

I've got long hair so there was about an inch of hair stuck under my skin with the remaining 8 inches or so sticking out. Was surprisingly ouchworthy pulling it out.

So either I've got hair like a hypodermic needle or skin that's totally rubbish and paper-like. Hmm.

Wait.. what? I don't get it. Did the hair grow from inside the body or did it stick into the skin from the outside?

I actually heard it can grow INTO your head.
Take a look in the mirror and see if you can spot any hairs in the area.

Edit: Just reading now that if you see any hairs in that region you should pull them out IMMEDIATELY!

Wear rubber gloves dipped in melted chocolate and candle wax. The trick is to work up just the right amount of friction to keep it from solidifying totally.

Only instance I could think of where you actually could be "impaled by hair" would be if a rhino charged you.

WTF? You people belong in a circus! A random hair fell into your sock and managed to burrow / work it's way an inch into your skin?

1cm? An Inch! I find it hard to believe hair could work it's way even 1cm below the skin.
