Toying with the idea of buying a 2000 CL500 which I thought I had negotiated a good deal on. It needs a bit of work done and this is reflected in the price.

There is one particular problem that needs fixed and i have narrowed the remedy down to either a new active body control (suspension) pump or new shocks all round.

Quotes from a main stealer are €2,500 if its the ABC pump or €5,000 for a new set of shocks!!!

Anyone know of a good indy (in Dublin) who would look at the car to confirm problem and carry out work at a semi-reasonable cost?!

    BF

ABC Pump can be done for a lot less than 2.5k. The chances of it needing 4 shocks are very slim.
You need to find a Merc specialist who both knows the system well and is equiped with a Startester. None of the aftermarket equipment covers ABC properly.
