Ive just realized Ive made a big booboo. I handed out about 20 CVs. I then contacted my references (I had made them aware earlier in the year that I was using them as references and they were fine with this) to inform them to expect phone calls.

I have found out that they both have new phone numbers. Will this affect my chances of getting called for an interview ? Do employers generally check before or after an interview ?

If they check after, I can just give them the new numbers at the interview...but if before, I may need to hand out the CVs again.

    Thanks in advance.

Normally, references are checked after the interview.

If they can't contact your references, they will give you a ring asking for further details.

    Don't worry about it. :)

There's no need at all to give any reference details until you have a job offer, let alone an interview. You should be OK in this case, but just save any future hassle and remove their details from your CV altogether.
